Beauty standards have changed, but health remains a priority. Adele, Chrissy Metz, Johnny Vegas, Susan Boyle, and other personalities from the world of music and film have radically transformed their figure through diet and exercise, and their new image has surprised everyone.
These are some of the most surprising changes of Hollywood celebrities.
Susan Boyle became the sensation of the moment around the world after appearing on the third season of Britain’s Got Talent.
Although her performance aired more than a decade ago, Boyle has managed to stay in the limelight in a way rarely seen in the world of TV stars.
That rendition of hers of the classic Les Miserables, “I Dreamed a Dream,” has amassed millions of views, plus Simon Cowell’s impressed face.
Susan Boyle has heeded doctors’ recommendations and lost 12 kilos to combat type 2 diabetes. “I needed to stop eating sweets and cakes.
They are my downfall,” she has said in an interview for ‘Mirror’. The Scottish singer has stayed away from the spotlight for 18 months and has focused on her personal life.
The winner of the third edition of ‘Britain’s got talent ‘Britain’s got talent has confessed that Asperger’s syndrome has kept her away from the stage.
The disease has become “so paralyzing” that she is unable to “set dates for a tour,” she confessed to ‘Mirror’.
Whether you’ve never seen it or have seen it a dozen times, it never fails to impress. When fame is achieved overnight, one’s life can change drastically.
Sometimes, this is for the better. However, the changes are often disastrous. A life of excess and rampant spending is often what marks this overnight fame.
Susan Boyle, however, has not fallen into the trap. Despite his incredible success, he has maintained a modest life. He continues to live in his modest apartment and has changed very little in his routine… until last year.
Her health was rarely the focus of her attention. The lovely, frumpy star knew she would never be a supermodel and, therefore, rarely worried about her appearance.
Her doctor noticed her bulging face and became concerned about the impact the weight gain would have on the Scottish star’s organs.
After running some blood tests, her doctor’s suspicions were realized. She was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
Diabetes.org explains that type 2 is the most common form of diabetes and describes it this way:
“Type 2 means your body doesn’t use insulin properly. And while some people can control their blood sugar levels with healthy eating and exercise, others may need medication or insulin to control it.”
However, while the diagnosis is not ideal, the organization says life doesn’t end with type 2 diabetes and there are many ways to improve one’s condition.
Not one to give up, Boyle got to work. He confessed to The Mirror that sweets were his weakness:
“I need to stop eating sweets and cakes. It’s the bane of my life.”
Knowing all that, she vowed to kick the sugar habit. The results weren’t immediate, but they were impressive.
Not only was she taking positive steps to improve her health status after being diagnosed with diabetes, but she also lost weight in the process and drastically changed her appearance.
Over the course of the next six months, Boyle lost about 12 kilograms, an impressive transformation.
In an interview for the TV show Lorraine, “I feel so much better now. I had times when I needed help, and I reached out and got the help I needed,” Express reported.
The singer showed off her new look in January 2019 on America’s Got Talent: The Champions, an all-star special of the show.
Her performance there was just as amazing and adored as her first time on Britain’s Got Talent, and she even earned the golden button from jury member Mel B.
He spoke candidly to the audience, saying:
“For those who maybe don’t have the confidence to do things, for those who don’t have a voice, those who people tend to ignore, I feel like a hero to them. Coming second doesn’t mean you lost, it’s an unfulfilled promise.”
The singer showed elegance and grace we haven’t seen before, plus a new hairstyle. Of course, her voice is still a work of angels.
Her most recent album, TEN, proved that the last decade hasn’t affected Boyle’s talent one bit. His rendition of “Stand by Me” is a particularly stunning performance.
Watching Susan Boyle take control of her health and lose 40 pounds while battling diabetes is an incredibly inspiring story.
It’s a timely reminder that you’re never too old or too attached to your ways to make a change. You simply have to be honest with yourself and, perhaps, dream about it from time to time.
